Reach for a bottle of Old Pulteney 12 Year Old Single Malt and Scotch Whisky to fill your quaich. Or go for Ole Pulteney 21 Year Old, which was voted the 2012 World Whisky of the Year by Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible. The distillery uses traditional methods to make its malt whisky, something travelers can see during tours of the Wick facility, which include tastings and the chance to purchase a hand-filled bottle straight from the cask. Old Pulteney 12 Year Old Single Malt and Scotch Whisky, $45. www.oldpulteney.com

For a full appreciation of Scottish fare — and a full belly — try the Lomond Gift Basket from The Scottish Grocer. Among your snacking options: Mackie’s Sea Salt & Vinegar Crisps, the only brand of potato chips made in Scotland; Dundee Cake, a traditional fruit cake; Border Dark Chocolate Ginger Cookies; Nairns Fine Milled Oatcakes; Famous Grouse Whisky Mustard; assorted “humbugs” in traditional sweet-shop style; and more. Wash it down with Highland Spring Sparkling Water. The Lomond Gift Basket, $85.95. www.thescottishgrocer.com

A quaich, or shallow two-handled cup, makes a great Gaelic-inspired souvenir from Scotland. This pewter one, by Scots Connection, is inscribed with lyrics from “Auld Lang Syne” and features Celtic triskele design. Fill the quaich with some Scotch to toast Hogmanay (New Year’s Eve). Scots Connection Auld Lang Syne Quaich, $41.57. scotsconnection.com
