Scotch, Whisky Gifts

Jan 1, 2012
2012 / January 2012

Reach for a bottle of Old Pulteney 12 Year Old Single Malt and Scotch Whisky to fill your quaich. Or go for Ole Pulteney 21 Year Old, which was voted the 2012 World Whisky of the Year by Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible. The distillery uses traditional methods to make its malt whisky, something travelers can see during tours of the Wick facility, which include tastings and the chance to purchase a hand-filled bottle straight from the cask. Old Pulteney 12 Year Old Single Malt and Scotch Whisky, $45. www.oldpulteney.com

This pewter one, by Scots Connection, is inscribed with lyrics from “Auld Lang Syne” and features Celtic triskele design. Fill the quaich with some Scotch to toast Hogmanay (New Year’s Eve). Scots Connection Auld Lang Syne Quaich, $41.57. scotsconnection.com

Homer and Janet by Homer Review

The Marais District, covering swaths of Paris’ 3rd and 4th arrondissments, has a distinctively gritty glamour that reveals it to be one of the city’s great incubators for new French food, fashion and lifestyle trends. It is here Moïse Sfez took on the challenge of creating street food establishments Homer in 2017 and Janet by Homer in 2022, doing it in such a way they both transcend the novelty of being regional American comfort food offered at stylized lunch counters matching up with New England lobster shacks and New York delis. Overwhelming local response and Sfez winning the 2018 Lobster Roll World’s Championship title in Portland, Maine, solidified him as a Paris restaurateur and one of France’s hottest culinary stars.
