Oneworld recently took another step toward simplifying the online travel experience across its global network. For passengers on multi-carrier journeys, new technology, now available on all carriers across the alliance, offers a simplified check-in process in which customers can scan their passport, receive boarding passes, and save their boarding pass directly to their digital wallet. (Applicable to flights operated by oneworld carriers in their itinerary, irrespective of the first operating carrier.) Oneworld’s proprietary technology enables different members’ systems to communicate via a shared digital platform.
“oneworld’s digital technology is transforming the way customers navigate multi-carrier journeys by giving them the tools they need to manage flights through a powerful data-driven foundation,” said Guido van Til, vice president, Digital, oneworld. “As the first alliance to offer digital check-in across all member airline pairings, this milestone underscores oneworld’s commitment to delivering a premium and more intuitive travel experience for global customers who can use their favourite airline app and arrive at the airport ready to fly.”
The following example of the new technology shows an American Airlines customer flying from Kuala Lumpur to Dallas-Fort Worth via Tokyo, first on Malaysia Airlines before connecting to American Airlines:
- The customer completes a single check-in via the American Airlines app, including scanning their passport
- Operating airline-branded boarding passes, Malaysia Airlines and American Airlines, are issued for each flight and can be saved to a digital wallet
- The customer goes straight to bag drop or security, without needing to see a check-in agent at the airport
Future phases of the technology rollout will include the ability to check-in on codeshare itineraries and dynamic, up-to-the-minute boarding passes.

Oct 28, 2026Review: Caribe Royale Orlando
It’s truly its own universe: Caribe Royale Orlando is a sprawling property beckoning you forward with its coral pink exterior spanning many towers and buildings. The two-level lobby alone feels more like a community than a hotel lobby, with a Starbucks; access to the signature restaurant (in the midst of renovations), sports bar and gift shop; and a plethora of seating options. The bilevel layout also makes the entire space seem larger, opening up to the massive pool awaiting just behind the back doors.

Oct 23, 2026The Flight Less Taken: Unsung Carriers Whisk You Away to Far-Flung Destinations
The miracle of flight feels slightly less miraculous these days. Endless delays, cramped seating and shortchanged amenities feel par for the course, and one can easily forget the wondrous fact that you’re hurtling above planet Earth, soaring above the clouds and across the skies to your destination of choice. In the olden days, you were limited to the fallibility of your outrigger canoe or horse-drawn carriage. It’s not hyperbolic to invoke the invention of the wheel when reminding oneself to stay calm and carry on in coach.
