Grand Hyatt Hong Kong

Arrival/Check-In: A Grand Hyatt Hong Kong representative met me at my gate at Hong Kong International Airport, walked me to luggage claim, waited for my bags and showed me to my driver, who whisked me away in the Mercedes-Benz sedan for the 35-minute drive into the city. As I was booked on the Grand Club executive floor, hotel staff met me inside the lobby and showed me to the Grand Club lounge; I then took a second elevator to my top-floor suite, where I was checked in privately and swiftly. I was surprised and happy to meet my personal butler, Bobby, who gave me a brief description of my Club access and a tour of my Ambassador Harbor View suite.

Guest Quarters: The double front doors of the suite opened into a marble entryway with a full guest bathroom to the right; a few steps away, the entry opened into the living area. Floor-to-ceiling windows ran the length of the room, offering beautiful views of the harbor and Kowloon. Western and Asian styles blended well, with white walls and bold accents of red artwork, dark timber furniture and cream couches. Two couches and a glass coffee table faced a 42-inch flat-screen TV. A full-sized desk had extra electrical outlets and two international converters that I used for my iPad, laptop and phone; the complimentary WiFi was strong and gave access to all my gadgets. The dining area to the right featured a round table with four chairs and a fully stocked kitchen. I was surprised the minibar was not fully complimentary, but I had many fresh tea and coffee options. Fresh fruit and cookies were delivered daily, and I ate every last bit.

Floor-to-ceiling windows in the large bedroom provided a great view to wake up to (heavy curtains could shut out the blinding morning light). A vanity table set up under the TV was a nice touch, but it was not ideal for putting on makeup because of limited light. As there were no open electrical outlets by the bed, my butler rigged up an outlet bar so I could have my charging phone handy.

The dark green and white marbled bathroom had a large vanity area where I could place my many amenities. The June Jacobs products smelled wonderful; I even took the lotion home. The spa tub was large enough for two, and the stand-alone shower worked well. There was no full-length mirror in the bathroom, but floor-to-ceiling mirrors in the living room worked just fine.

Services/Amenities: Grand Hyatt Hong Kong has one of the best club levels. Club staff printed out my boarding pass, gave shopping advice and provided accurate directions for the MTR. The Club dining room is large, with excellent views of the harbor and city to enjoy during breakfast or cocktail hour. Couches and a fireplace make it a great place to relax or entertain a guest. The gym, on the 11th floor along with the spa, a pool and 400-meter outdoor track, offered an abundance of cardio machines and weights and was never overcrowded.

The Experience: The hotel’s location in the Hong Kong financial center, doors from the convention center, is ideal for business as well as enjoying luxury. The lobby area was a bit loud due to convention crowds and parties at the bar, but the nine restaurants and bars encourage you to stay and mingle. My stay was hassle-free and very enjoyable. My butlers frequently accessed my room to offer snacks, advice and just to check in, so they kept me on my toes to make sure I was properly clothed for their sudden arrival. I look forward to coming back to the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong.

Relax, Rejuvenate and Heal at StolenTime

At the namesake luxury, 5-star all-inclusive resort in Saint Lucia, the concept of “stolen time” used to be reserved for couples escaping to canoodle, reconnect and perhaps rekindle in sumptuous accommodations during a romantic getaway on the lush Caribbean island. But when StolenTime by Rendezvous rebranded in late 2022 to welcome all adult guests and focus more on wellness, the philosophy expanded to encompass self-reflection, personal growth and enrichment. After all, time is our most precious commodity, one that’s finite and too quickly slips through our grasp; we need to find those moments that matter and make them count.
