Arrival/Check-In: Arriving at the Conrad after 2 a.m., I was roughly 24 hours late for my check-in. The lobby was well-staffed, even at that hour, to warmly welcome me to Singapore. As a guest on the executive floor, I was delighted to hear the Conrad offers complimentary clothes pressing for a few items on the day of check-in, a welcome offer given my delays.
Guest Quarters: My executive room was on the 31st floor, the top floor of the building. Large windows capturing the Marina Bay skyline and the Singapore Flyer made for a breathtaking view. The room itself was contemporary in design, with all the modern amenities any weary traveler could ask for. The large, 46-inch Sony Bravia LCD TV hung from the wall above a home theater system and wooden credenza. The work space featured a large desk with U.S. outlets. WiFi within the room was not complimentary; however, it was free in the Executive Lounge on my same floor.
The king-sized bed with plush linens and pillows, complemented by black-out curtains, created a peaceful sleeping experience and quick adjustment to my new time zone. The bathroom featured a wide variety of Acca Kappa toiletries, a separate bath and shower and a large vanity.
Services/Amenities: As a guest on the executive floor, I enjoyed the privileges of the Executive Lounge. I took in sweeping views of Singapore while indulging in the deluxe Champagne breakfast. I was sorry to miss the afternoon tea and evening cocktails with canapés also offered to executive-level guests. Multiple meeting rooms were available on this same level, creating a great spot for impromptu strategy sessions with my colleagues.
Perhaps my best meal in Singapore was at the Conrad’s own Golden Peony restaurant. The beautifully decorated dining room featured traditional Asian artwork and teak screens. I ordered multiple courses of contemporary Cantonese delights, my favorite being the double-boiled pumpkin soup.
I found the 24-hour fitness center to be the perfect place to start my day, though I was unable to take advantage of the Centennial Spa and large outdoor pool — both good reasons to return soon.
The Experience: I could not have been more pleased by my stay at the Conrad Centennial Singapore. It is the perfect blend of Western convenience and the style and service of the Singapore culture.
