Set on more than 1,200 acres in Montana’s Paradise Valley, Sage Lodge sits just 30 minutes from Yellowstone National Park, with the Yellowstone River running for more than a mile along the property.

It’s an ideal luxury base for exploring the park, with constant views of Emigrant Peak and a year-round lineup of experiences extending the Montana adventure beyond Yellowstone’s boundaries. Sage Lodge earned three MICHELIN Keys in 2024 and 2025, and remains the only three-Key property in Montana and one of only 15 in the nation ahead of this month’s 2026 update.

You’ll know exactly where you are the moment you arrive to the main lodge, where wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling windows frame a dramatic view of Emigrant Peak directly opposite the airy entrance. A two-story stone fireplace rises through the lobby, with cozy gathering spaces arranged throughout for taking in the scenery, playing a tabletop game or chatting over drinks. The ultrasoft leather armchairs by the window are the most coveted seats in the house, especially for morning sun or evening live music.

The main lodge has just 34 guestrooms, and each includes a gas fireplace, sleeper sofa, as well as a balcony, patio or window seat. To guarantee views of Emigrant Peak from bed, book a king room. For families or groups, four Ranch Houses function as private residences. Each contains four bedrooms and bathrooms, a full kitchen, dining area, living room, fitness loft, and outdoor living space overlooking the casting pond. These 2,783-square-foot houses sleep up to 16, with six king beds and two queen sleeper sofas. Grocery stocking and private chef service add another layer of independence and exclusivity, but full use of the lodge and restaurants is also encouraged.

Much of your stay here revolves around getting out into the spectacular Montana landscapes. Fly fishing runs year-round, with guided half- and full-day excursions ranging from wading to floats, and access to private water. The lodge also maintains its own casting pond with complimentary equipment available. Additional complimentary gear for outdoor exploration includes mountain bikes, hiking poles, paddleboards, snowshoes, coolers and other seasonal equipment.

Experts host included programs like geology walks and an astronomer-led stargazing experience under the expansive Montana sky. Many adventures change with the seasons. Warmer weather opens up two-hour horseback rides across the lodge’s acreage; llama-supported treks; a dedicated archery course; and private, scenic floats on the Yellowstone River for sunset cruising, birding and wildlife watching. Winter turns to backcountry skiing, snowshoeing, winter fly fishing, guided wildlife excursions and skiing at nearby Bridger Bowl, with leather crafting and woodworking workshops providing distinctly Montana experiences indoors when the weather is less welcoming.

For excursions into Yellowstone National Park, Sage Lodge employs its own enhanced vehicles, elevated programming, and dedicated on-staff guides to build personalized adventures around your interests and schedule. Ninety days before your arrival, expect a call from your concierge reaching out for a better sense of how you want to experience Montana personally, from the activities interesting you most to the pace and priorities you have in mind for each day. From there, your stay is individually curated, but you’re not locked into anything and your plans can be thoughtfully adjusted once you’re on property. Care here is comprehensive, but not rigid.

In the main lodge, Fireside Room provides the more casual of Sage Lodge’s two dining experiences, with Montana-inspired menus built around locally sourced ingredients. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served during the week with brunch added on weekends, and seasonal dishes can include bison Bolognese, elk medallion Benedict with huckleberry-pepper hollandaise, and a Wagyu double smash burger with black garlic sauce. In warmer weather, dine on the patio overlooking Paradise Valley by day and gather around firepits with a blanket and nightcap in the evening.

The Grill at Sage Lodge sits inside The Barn, a separate event facility overlooking the Yellowstone River, and serves as the more refined of the property’s two restaurants. Dinner is served Thursday–Monday from 4 to 9 pm, with a contemporary steakhouse menu centered on wood-fired meats and regional ingredients. Selections can range from juniper-crusted bison carpaccio and wood-fired rainbow trout to Keyes Ranch lamb and Black Angus filet mignon, with game and beef dry-aged on site among the specialties. For private dinners, up to 30 people can gather around an 18-foot, live-edge table in a dedicated space with equally humbling views.

The Spa at Sage Lodge is currently undergoing an extensive renovation following a year-long project, with reopening scheduled for late November or early December. Spa treatments continue during construction in temporary spaces, but the finished facility will return the full spa program to its upgraded setting next to the main lodge. The project also incorporates a relocated fitness center overlooking the Yellowstone River, and a new movement studio sharing the view, plus a wet treatment room and larger changing lounges. Outdoors, a new cold plunge will join the existing hot tub for contrast therapy, with panoramic views of Emigrant Peak surrounding the experience. It’s one more example of how Sage Lodge brings Montana into nearly every part of your stay while drawing you deeper into the landscape, culture and experiences defining it.
