Spring Into Action

Apr 23, 2014
2014 / May 2014

Your team at Global Traveler is heading westward to attend our second annual Globility Board meeting; subscribers will gather at The Westin La Paloma for two days of meetings and a little time off to enjoy the resort’s amenities. I will be hitting the 27-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course — the Hill, Canyon and Ridge courses (three nines) that make up this fantastic golfing experience. Other GT staffers will review the Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa. When you go to Tucson, you can be sure that business is a pleasure.

Immediately after the meeting, I will head to Santa Monica to present the Leisure Travel Awards at the beautiful Hotel Shangri-La, which just completed a $30 million renovation. The property is a landmark in the Streamline Moderne style of the Art Deco period. GT staff and guests will congregate on the rooftop of the property overlooking the Pacific Ocean while we award the best in leisure travel.

Prior to my trip out West, I will take my annual diversion south to Myrtle Beach to tee it up at the Legends Heathland, Parkland and Moorland courses, as well as at Caledonia Golf and Fish Club, True Blue Golf Club and The Dunes Club.

I am sure we will find a few extra courses to play, many of which will grace the pages of GT’s Golf column in coming months. With the weather we have had here this winter, the “wrenches” are a bit more rusty than normal. I am sure you will be looking forward to my escapades on these beloved golf trips!

Looks like I am domestically bound for the next several months, but rest assured there are trips to Abu Dhabi, Brazil, Canada and a host of other global destinations coming up for the GT team.
