St. Vincent and the Grenadines are comprised of 32 islands, but only nine are inhabited: St. Vincent, Young Island, Bequia, Mustique, Canouan, Mayreau, Union Island, Palm Island and Petit St. Vincent. St. Vincent is the biggest and busiest, known for ecotourism, waterfalls, hiking and black-sand beaches. The new Argyle International Airport will replace the current E.T. Joshua Airport on St. Vincent in 2013, offering direct flights from the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. For an escape from everything, visit the private island resort on Young Island, with open-air showers, a full-service spa and no televisions. Petit St. Vincent recently underwent a multimillion-dollar renovation. The private resort reopened in November 2011 and features 22 refurbished cottages set on 115 acres. The largest airport, a state-of-the-art marina and the SVG’s only golf course can be found on Canouan. Mayreau offers prime wind- and kite-surfing. Union Island is an array of topography, with mountain peaks and ridges. Palm Island Resort on Palm Island offers everything a guest could need or want, and many visitors never leave the island. I became the chief executive officer of St. Vincent and the Grenadines Tourism Authority in January 2011. Prior, I was minister of tourism and senator of transportation. As minister, I spearheaded the development of the Tourism Authority. I’ve worked in marketing and public relations, and I started my career as a junior political consultant.
