It’s a beauty contest for trees (sort of) as historic Lord Baltimore Hotel welcomes the holiday season with its annual Couture Tree Competition. Renowned for its elegant historic ambience and storied past, the property is the setting for this much-anticipated winter event.

Twenty decked-out trees will be adorned with decorations created by local organizations, including Hopewell Cancer Center, American Institute of Architects Baltimore, Baltimore City Community College, B&Dee’s Love and South Church. Trees are on display through the end of this year, with voters deciding on winning designs during a private gathering.

Seasonal offerings extend beyond the tree competition, with a Gingerbread Rowhome Build on Dec. 6, staged in partnership with the Baltimore Architecture Foundation at The Center for Architecture and Design. From 1:30 to 3 p.m., guests build and decorate gingerbread rowhomes that pay tribute to the city’s distinguished architecture. Those wishing to participate can find kits for sale at LB Bistro & Bakery, or via the registration page.

Overnight hotel guests receive complimentary hot chocolate vouchers, along with exclusive promotions and seasonal themed experiences at the 2025 Christmas Village in Baltimore, and the opportunity to participate in the annual Historic Charles Street Window Display Contest. Guests are also invited to register for Breakfast with Santa Dec. 15 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
