September Cover Battle
Moscow or Paris? Which to choose for our September cover image? We opted for the beautiful yellow tones of Moscow. What did you think?
I think the Moscow cover was the right choice. The fact everyone was bundled up in coats and scarves, plus the warm, yellow color put me in the mood for fall travel. While Paris is beautiful, I think it would be best for a June or July cover. Well done.
Sabrina Marino, San Francisco, Calif.
The Moscow cover was nice; however, it was a bit bright. I would have gone with the Paris cover, as it was still a beautiful shot and easier on the eyes.
Dustin Christopher, Austin, Texas
I personally love the Moscow cover. It was not just your average photo of city buildings. I enjoyed the architecture of the Moscow Metro and the realness of it.

Travel Smart
I enjoy my monthly “subscription” to Global Traveler, compliments of the United Club. I always read the updates on loyalty programs and the travel industry, as well as the flight and hotel reviews and destination articles. Lately I have really come to appreciate the Health column. In the last few months it has provided me with timely and valuable information on prescription medications and mosquito-borne viruses. Frequent travelers must always be aware of the potential impact of travel on their health. Your column is a valuable tool in that pursuit.
Larry Bahr, Chicago, Ill.
On a Mission
I have never been to Russia but appreciated the article on Moscow. There is a lot of hysteria regarding Russia these days, but there is no fundamental reason for the United States and Russia to be at odds. They have legitimate security concerns and a responsibility for the millions of ethnic Russians stranded in the countries that came into being after the collapse of the U.S.S.R.

Zika Officially Hits the United States
In the Aug. 31 issue of eFlyer USA, we covered the newly detected risk for mosquito-borne Zika transmission in Miami Beach and Miami-Dade County. We asked: Are you changing your domestic travel plans as a result of Zika reports?
I just read your article on the Zika virus in Florida and am responding with possible changes to our travel plans.
My family planned a 10-day trip to Playa del Carmen, south of Cancún, for our upcoming family trip, December 2016. Hotel and flight tickets were booked in advance months ago.
However, I just found out I’m about six weeks pregnant with my third child. As much as my family loves to return to Playa del Carmen for our yearly trip, I’m not sure if we can keep the travel plans with my pregnancy.
The flight tickets we purchased were business class but non-refundable on United Airlines. Do you know what their policy is for cases like this? Would this be considered a medical case to either refund or give credit if we were to cancel our travel plans?
Christine Park, via email
Editor’s Note: Congratulations on the new addition to your family, Christine. As of Sept. 28, United’s travel notice regarding Zika reads as follows:
If you have a ticket for travel to a country affected by the Zika virus (as listed on the CDC website) and you are concerned about your travel, please contact the United Customer Contact Center with questions or to change your reservation. Customers who are advised to avoid the affected regions based on CDC guidance may change their destination or travel date without a change fee or may choose to receive a refund. The new travel date must be within the validity of the ticket. Additional charges may apply if there is a difference in fare for the new itinerary.

Editor’s Note: We regret the misspelling of one of our award winner’s names in the September issue. Our apologies for the error and congratulations, Cunard!
