Transferring through Beijing Capital International Airport could become easier for business travelers using Star Alliance carriers.
All members will soon be co-located in the same terminal, according to a new agreement between Air China and PEK. The agreement allows Star Alliance to introduce improvements to its passenger processing, including automated processes, check-in and fast bag drop with self-tagging.
Seventeen Star Alliance member airlines currently serve PEK, including Air China, but transiting through the airport and connecting to other Star Alliance carriers can be a trial. Delays are rife, and bags must be re-checked while transiting.
“This is a win-win situation for all sides,” said Du Qiang, vice president, PEK. “Having the commitment from Star Alliance allows us to secure the necessary resources to jointly provide an improved customer experience at our airport.”
The alliance also focuses its services on Beijing’s primary airport rather than the upcoming Daxing International Airport, opening next year.
“Beijing is an important hub for our Star Alliance network,” said Christian Draeger, vice president customer experience, Star Alliance. “The opening of the second airport at Daxing presents us with an opportunity to cement our commitment to Beijing Capital International Airport. This agreement now sets the foundation to provide a superior customer experience and achieve future growth at the Beijing hub.”

Oct 7, 2026Review: Prestige Oceanfront Resort
Vancouver Island gets progressively wilder as you leave Victoria behind and follow the coastline west. Prestige Oceanfront Resort rises directly above Sooke Harbour, where boats move across the basin, and the Olympic Mountains form the horizon beyond the strait.
