Maastricht, Netherlands is the setting for TEFAF — The European Fine Art Fair — widely considered the world’s most esteemed art fair. Set for March 13-22 in Forum 100 at MECC, the Maastricht Exhibition & Congress Centre, TEFAF is the centerpiece of a roster of dance, classical music, jazz, opera, theater, video art, architectural performances and numerous exhibitions held in and around the city and throughout Holland.
Highlights: “Adam, Eve & the Devil” at Marres House for Contemporary Culture, including two dinner seatings with a performance and lecture program and an abundance of great art; and “Henri de Fromantiou — Royal Illusions” at the Bonnefantenmuseum. Still life paintings by de Fromantiou, who served as both art dealer and court painter in Potsdam, will be displayed as part of the museum’s first retrospective of the artist’s work. This exhibition will remain open from March 6–June 28. Tickets are currently on sale for TEFAF and associated cultural events.

Oct 7, 2026Review: Prestige Oceanfront Resort
Vancouver Island gets progressively wilder as you leave Victoria behind and follow the coastline west. By the time you reach Sooke, about 45 minutes from the provincial capital, city blocks have surrendered to forests, rocky shoreline, sheltered coves and long views across the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Prestige Oceanfront Resort rises directly above Sooke Harbour, where boats move across the basin, and the Olympic Mountains form the horizon beyond the strait.

Sep 30, 2026Review: Sushi by Scratch at Grand Hyatt Deer Valley
Husband-and-wife team Phillip Frankland Lee and Margarita Kallas-Lee made their mark by reinventing the term “hidden gem” through their surprising and intentional collection of destination restaurants. While they launched the original Scratch Kitchen in 2013, an expired lease prompted them to relocate to an unassuming strip mall in suburban Encino in 2015 and rename it Scratch Bar & Kitchen. Even at a time when the San Fernando Valley was not known for innovative 5-star dining, the Lees’ concepts gathered such a strong buzz that discerning diners cheerfully followed them “over the hill.”
