EVA Air passengers get excellent service for competitive fares and travel in new aircraft. We make frequent flights from five gateways in North America: Vancouver, Newark, Seattle, San Francisco and Los Angeles. And with just one stop in Taipei, we provide convenient schedules for connecting onward to cities all over Asia, including 14 gateways in China.

We use spacious Boeing 777s and 747s on all our U.S. routes. We’ve balanced growing demand and our competitive fares with a new concept in business class by expanding Premium Laurel to 42 seats on our 777s and 36 seats on the 747s. In early 2010, we’re adding two more brand-new 777s.

Dr. Y. F. Chang, EVA founder and group chairman, recognized a class of passengers between business and economy whose needs weren’t being met. We launched our in-between cabin in 1992 and became the first airline to actually provide premium-economy services — seats with more pitch and recline, enhanced meal options and seatback televisions. We’ve named the cabin Elite Class on our 777s and 747s.

Elaborate on EVA Air’s business class and its value over other carriers.

We give our Premium Laurel passengers comforts associated with first class at competitive business-class fares — value that is especially attractive to self-employed business travelers and those looking for premium products and services for reasonable fares.

We outfitted Premium Laurel with leading-edge technology. Each passenger has room to work, relax or stretch out in an ergonomic seat that fully reclines in a generous 61-inch pitch. Passengers choose their entertainment on our Audio Video On Demand system and use a short message service. They dine on tasty meals made from fresh seasonal ingredients and can even order online from expanded menus before their flights. And they can accompany each course with one of our wines, recognized as the Best Wines on the Wing in Global Traveler’s 2007 airline wine competition.

Tell us about your career in aviation.

I started with Evergreen Group 26 years ago. I’ve held posts at Evergreen Securities, at EVA in project planning and sales, as general manager in both Vienna and Paris and in management for worldwide passenger marketing and sales. I was also responsible for developing our EVA Enterprise Data Warehouse and Audio Video On Demand systems. My Evergreen Group experiences have given me a solid background in global transportation, finance, marketing and airline operations.
