Qatar announced the relaxation of visa requirements for visitors from 80 countries. Visitors from 47 countries, including the United Kingdom, can now obtain a visa waiver upon arrival, valid for 30 days for either single or multiple trips.  The waiver can also be extended an additional 30 days.

Visitors from 33 countries, including France, Germany and Italy, can obtain multi-entry visa waivers valid for up to 180 days, allowing them to spend a total of 90 days in Qatar. Visitors must have a minimum of six months validity on their passport and confirmed onward or return tickets to take advantage of the waiver.

Qatar is also considering further enhancements to the policy, including waivers for the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

This decision follows the introduction of a free transit visa last year, allowing passengers of all nationalities to stay in Qatar up to four days. The new policy marks Qatar one of the most open countries in the region in terms of tourism.

The country has seen significant growth this year, despite Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Bahrain and the UAE cutting diplomatic ties earlier this summer. This event closed airspace for Qatar Airways flights over Bahrain and the U.A.E., but these restrictions have been eased.
