Lauded for its outstanding wines and regenerative farming practices, Spier Wine Farm in South Africa’s Western Cape region prepares to welcome its first guests to its new hotel this spring, with an opening planned for March. Owned by the Enthoven family, the wine estate is located within a protected area known as Cape Floral Kingdom.

Set in a magnificent wild Cape garden, it’ll be a more intimate farm hotel and a more encompassing expression of our family’s philosophy.”

In keeping with the focus of this area as a nature sanctuary, the new hotel features a wellness spa and Cape Herbal Bath House, surrounded by gardens filled with healing botanicals and medicinal plants — some wild-harvested and incorporated into therapies and treatments, and formed into a proprietary spa product line. Along with 10 treatment rooms, the spa also includes a mindful movement studio and private pool.

The property is a half-hour from Cape Town International Airport. Laid out as a private village, the hotel has 80 luxury guestrooms and suites; two restaurants with farm-to-table menus; and three bars, including a rooftop “sundowner” bar. Later this year, two private, three-bedroom villas will be added to the accommodations’ offerings. Additional highlights include a 3,600-piece collection of contemporary South African art curated by Spier Arts Trust.
