This September, a new kind of luxury lifestyle hotel comes to Savannah, Georgia. LEFT LANE’s newest brand debut (following internationally acclaimed Hotel Bardo’s opening in the city in February 2024) transforms Savannah’s 114-year-old Manger Building into a private clubhouse where guests can unwind, dine, drink, play and connect.

Recess Hotel & Club Savannah will be rooted in a “retro futurist” aesthetic with nostalgia-fueled pop culture channeling a carefree spirit across its 221 guestrooms (including 23 suites) and imaginative Rumpus Rooms. Rumpus Rooms will be lively social hubs on each floor, complete with custom vending machines, vintage board games inspired by the 1970s and 80s, and more.

Accommodations celebrate natural materials, organic linens and Corpus Naturals amenities to encourage rest and relaxation. Each room is also appointed with a custom throw designed by local artist and SCAD graduate Juliana Lupacchino (JULU). Suites, all on the 10^th floor, feature 17-foot ceilings, dramatic arched windows and panoramic views. Guests who want to take home a JULU throw can purchase one at on-site Shop Recess.

Recess Hotel & Club Savannah will also boast several food and beverage venues, including Le Flâneur, a French brasserie showcasing the building’s original mosaic flooring and serving crepes, tartines, oysters, steak frites and cocktails; Kilter, a retro-chic rooftop bar on the 12^th floor, which will also take the title of Savannah’s highest rooftop pool, as well as offer refreshing drinks and Asian-inspired small plates and sushi; Lobby Bar, a living-room style lounge with woven custom chandeliers, tiled columns and lush greenery; and The Servery, a Japanese automat-inspired takeout window serving smoothies, juices, pastries, salads and sandwiches for breakfast and lunch.

LEFT LANE’s holistic wellness and spa concept, Saltgrass, will be reimagined in the hotel, offering a circuit-based fitness facility with a central turf area for functional training, TRX, boxing bags and a calendar of private sessions. Immersive recovery treatments in the wellness space include a bioharmony lounge, sound temple, steam rooms, saunas and cold plunges.

The hotel will also span many meeting and event spaces. Its 6,500-square-foot, two-story event hall (the only new-build on the property) begins in the first-floor Annex Ballroom, complete with outdoor space overlooking Johnson Square and boasting its own street-side entrance for weddings and conferences for up to 250 guests. The second-floor Conservatory is inspired by Savannah’s famous gardens with luxuriant (and moveable) greenery. A rooftop lawn will also grace the hotel, providing panoramic views and an additional 830 square feet of flexible event space.

The beating heart of the hotel, however, is its members-only social club, Club Recess. Spanning 5,500 square feet on the second floor, this club offers a collection of libraries, studios, lounges, meeting rooms, communal workspaces and a conversation pit to foster discussion. A complimentary photoshoot session provides members with a headshot, too. After hours, members can expect weekly game nights and bi-weekly happy hours on Fridays and local live music and DJ sets on Saturdays.
