Designed in harmony with the Ayung River valley, Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan recently unveiled seven newly reimagined suites, with floor-to-ceiling windows framing the Ayung River valley and handcrafted Balinese details bringing a sense of place. The five Premier Duplex Suites and two Premier Family Suites were created with Hirsch Bedner Associates.
Interiors reflect Sayan’s architectural legacy, boasting hand-loomed textiles; locally crafted details; pale, earthy tones inspired by Ubud’s rice terraces; and integrated smart-living technology, including intuitive LUTRON lighting.
“These suites represent everything Sayan has always stood for — pioneering design in profound harmony with nature,” said Didier Jardin, general manager, Four Seasons Resort Bali. “The new suites enhance that connection. Waking up in one of them, with the river below and the valley all around, is a uniquely Sayan experience. This is a new era for Sayan, and we can’t wait to share it.”
Overlooking the Ayung, the Premier Duplex Suite spreads across two levels, offering a light-washed dining and living area with floor-to-ceiling river views; a bedroom sanctuary layered in teak and hand-loomed fabric; and a private sun terrace.
The Premier Family Suite places a thoughtfully designed kids’ room at the heart of the experience. Located in the main building, the suite pairs a generous living area with sweeping views of the river valley.
With the goal to tread lightly on the surrounding landscape, the existing framework was optimized and refurbished to reduce the demand for new materials. Needed new materials were chosen for longevity and sourced locally when possible. Next-generation air conditioning uses environmentally responsible refrigerants and the suites’ LED lighting is energy-efficient.

Oct 7, 2026Review: Prestige Oceanfront Resort
Vancouver Island gets progressively wilder as you leave Victoria behind and follow the coastline west. By the time you reach Sooke, about 45 minutes from the provincial capital, city blocks have surrendered to forests, rocky shoreline, sheltered coves and long views across the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Prestige Oceanfront Resort rises directly above Sooke Harbour, where boats move across the basin, and the Olympic Mountains form the horizon beyond the strait.

Sep 30, 2026Review: Sushi by Scratch at Grand Hyatt Deer Valley
Husband-and-wife team Phillip Frankland Lee and Margarita Kallas-Lee made their mark by reinventing the term “hidden gem” through their surprising and intentional collection of destination restaurants. While they launched the original Scratch Kitchen in 2013, an expired lease prompted them to relocate to an unassuming strip mall in suburban Encino in 2015 and rename it Scratch Bar & Kitchen. Even at a time when the San Fernando Valley was not known for innovative 5-star dining, the Lees’ concepts gathered such a strong buzz that discerning diners cheerfully followed them “over the hill.”
