InterContinental Hotels Group recently opened a new property in Oxford. The new voco Oxford Spires is a 181-guestroom property on University College Oxford grounds next to the River Thames. Guests are within walking distance of Oxford’s historic city center, 15th-century landmarks and the University College Oxford boathouse.
Special touches guests enjoy throughout their stay include welcome treats like orange marmalade chocolate tarts, a nod to orange marmalade made in Oxford, and bedding made from 100 percent recycled materials. A large emphasis is placed on sustainability throughout the hotel, so guests find bulk-sized beauty products in guest bathrooms and glass water bottles in each guestroom.
The on-site dining is Deacons Restaurant, with locally inspired dishes, and the adjacent Deacon Lounge. The hotel provides a health club with a spa, steam room, Jacuzzi, pool and treatment rooms.
“We are delighted to be the fourth hotel in the United Kingdom to join the voco family. Our hotel offers guests the opportunity to relax in a rural setting whilst only being within walking distance from one of the greatest historic cities in the world. voco is all about delivering great guest experience and we look forward to offering a warm welcome to guests, old and new, when they choose to stay with us,” said Wendy Procter, general manager, voco Oxford Spires.
