The guardians of the ancient archeological site of Troy, in Türkiye, are expecting a surge in visitors with the recent release of Christopher Nolan’s movie, The Odyssey. The ancient city of Troy plays a central role in the story of The Odyssey, which dates back some 3,200 years.

Located 200 miles from Istanbul in Türkiye’s North Aegean region, Troy is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site, and its history continues to resonate across centuries and continents.

Easily reached from Istanbul, Troy is just 19 miles from Çanakkale’s city center, located in the village of Tevfikiye. Troy has a history of more than 5,000 years of continuous settlement, from the Early Bronze Age to the Eastern Roman period. At the entrance to the site, award-winning Troy Museum invites visitors to explore archaeological treasures and layered history across three levels through a contemporary, immersive narrative.

It is also part of the Troy Vineyard Route, a scenic route which stretches through Gallipoli, Eceabat, Troy and the island of Bozcaada. The Southern Gate of Troy Palace and other structures from the Bronze Age are part of the 2026 dig season, and archaeologists and researchers in Çanakkale work tirelessly to unearth new historical insights into Troy. Experts continue to unveil grand colonnaded avenues and shopfronts dating back to the Roman era, as well as investigations into traces of destruction around the Southern Gate, tied to the legendary Trojan War. Teams are also working deep within the Troy Citadel on Bronze Age palace structures.

Review: Prestige Oceanfront Resort

Vancouver Island gets progressively wilder as you leave Victoria behind and follow the coastline west. By the time you reach Sooke, about 45 minutes from the provincial capital, city blocks have surrendered to forests, rocky shoreline, sheltered coves and long views across the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Prestige Oceanfront Resort rises directly above Sooke Harbour, where boats move across the basin, and the Olympic Mountains form the horizon beyond the strait.

Review: Sushi by Scratch at Grand Hyatt Deer Valley

Husband-and-wife team Phillip Frankland Lee and Margarita Kallas-Lee made their mark by reinventing the term “hidden gem” through their surprising and intentional collection of destination restaurants. While they launched the original Scratch Kitchen in 2013, an expired lease prompted them to relocate to an unassuming strip mall in suburban Encino in 2015 and rename it Scratch Bar & Kitchen. Even at a time when the San Fernando Valley was not known for innovative 5-star dining, the Lees’ concepts gathered such a strong buzz that discerning diners cheerfully followed them “over the hill.”
