More than seven decades of the House of Dior will be on view at the Denver Art Museum as the first major Dior retrospective is unveiled in November 2018. The exhibition, “Dior: From Paris to the World,” will include 150 haute couture dresses along with a selection of original sketches, photographs, accessories, runway videos and archival materials exploring Christian Dior’s New Look revolution in post-WWII Paris. Beyond founder Dior himself, the exhibition examines the contributions of succeeding directors Yves-Saint Laurent (1958–1960), Marc Bohan (1961–1989), Gianfranco Ferré (1989–1996), John Galliano (1997–2011), Raf Simons (2012–2015) and Maria Grazia Chiuri (2016–present), each of whom furthered Dior’s original vision in unique ways.

Florence Müller, the DAM’s Avenir Foundation Curator of Textile Art and Fashion, will be the curator, working closely with exhibition designer Shohei Shigematsu. Pieces presented in the Denver exhibit — many not seen outside of Europe —include loans from the Dior Héritage Collection. Additional pieces will be drawn from major institutions, presented in chronological order detailing themes in the House of Dior’s global history and its enduring presence in Africa, Asia, Europe, North America and South America. “Dior: From Paris to the World” will be on view Nov. 18, 2018–March 3, 2019. The museum is located in downtown Denver close to the 16^th Street Mall, accessible via public transportation.
