Benchmark Hospitality International and Gemstone Hotels & Resorts, two global leaders in the management and marketing of resorts, hotels and conference centers, announced a merger that will create a joined portfolio of more than 70 unique and distinctive properties.
The formal coming together of these companies represents a response to a market rapidly moving toward independent, soft hotel brands with a strong focus on personalized, experiential travel.
“This merger was a natural fit,” explains Alex Cabañas, CEO, Benchmark Hospitality International. “Not only do we share a similar focus on unique and independent properties, but our organizational cultures and values align extremely well.”
Benchmark Resorts & Hotels, a portfolio under the larger Benchmark Hospitality International brand, represents the finest in lodging, dining, recreational and meeting accommodations in some of the world’s most unique destinations. Gemstone Hotels & Resorts, manager of 19 hotels and resorts throughout the United States, specializes in luxury and upscale hotels and complexes.
The merger was seamless, as both companies take pride in maintaining the character and personality of each property managed.
The recently merged hotel companies have a motto, “Be the Difference.” While other hotel companies maintain a uniform brand, Benchmark distinguishes itself by advocating for the collective individuality of its properties, celebrating each hotel’s character and personality. This innovative hotel concept is perfectly and beautifully symbolized by the company’s iconic mosaic aesthetic, a concept used in its lifestyle journal and blog, MosaicTraveler.com.
