As we ease into spring and look forward to summer, we are following a lot of interesting travel developments.
First, The Brando is now open. This property, created on Tetiaroa, the private atoll Marlon Brando fell in love with while filming Mutiny on the Bounty, is one of the most exclusive resorts in the world. Make way for The Brando and its lush South Pacific splendor — I am sure many of you will be placing the property on your wish list.
In addition, Air Tahiti Nui offers its new business class to get you there in style. I flew its previous version a couple years ago, and the new cabins will provide a welcome service with more room and more modern seats.
EVA Air will add non-stop flights between Taipei Taoyuan International Airport and Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport three times a week beginning June 20, increasing to four times a week July 1. The flight goes on to Singapore for those looking for an efficient route to Southeast Asia. EVA will launch the Houston flight with a Boeing 777-300ER painted in the Hello Kitty theme. This will be the seventh Hello Kitty plane in EVA’s fleet, each with a different character. Can you name them all?
I was impressed last month with my flight back from LAX to PHL on Delta Air Lines. Although I connected through Atlanta, Delta’s first-class flight included flat beds. As I was on the red eye, I was able to sneak in three hours of sleep, allowing me to make it through that Friday at work and even go to the movies Friday evening. Of course, if you fly to JFK, you are guaranteed a flat bed and a couple more hours of sleep, which can make you a much more productive traveler.
I know our readers are looking for their “trip of a lifetime” — which they take each year — and I, too, am beginning to think about where I can go for my annual jaunt. Suggestions are welcome, but I already have a few ideas.

Sep 17, 2026High-Spirited Hong Kong: The Dynamic Hub Embraces Its Maritime History and Culture
It was known as the “Kai Tak heart attack” — the thrilling, terrifying final approach into Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Airport. Airliners were required to bank sharply at the last moment, dodging hills and apartment blocks to line up with a runway jutting out into Kowloon Bay. The airport is long gone, but international visitors are arriving at Kai Tak again, albeit more sedately. Their cruise ships dock smoothly at Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, a modern gateway designed by Sir Norman Foster.
