Business in the Air

Last month I was thrilled to be invited to Qantas’ North American headquarters, where I met with Ashley Howell, executive vice president, and Anie Hong, North American marketing director. Review: The St. Regis San Francisco

ARRIVAL/CHECK-IN: On my West Coast trip I stopped in Los Angeles for a few meetings. My last stop before flying to San Francisco was to pick up some wine for the annual Wines on the Wing competition the airline was unable to ship. I checked the wine in two packages: one a designed wine travel case (which held 12 bottles) and the remaining wine boxed for checking. Upon arrival at SFO, the wine case came out fine, but I waited and waited, and finally the only remaining item on the luggage belt was a gray plastic tub with a black mangled trash bag. Oh, no, I thought ... and, yes, it was the remaining eight bottles.
