The Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre in Whistler, British Columbia, will host a series of events comprising the First Nations Winter Feast & Performance, continuing through April 18. The program takes place Thursdays and Sundays with culturally infused dinners, storytelling, music and dance that emphasize the importance of ceremony and tradition. Menus feature indigenous-inspired fare, wines from the Indigenous World Winery and craft beers from local breweries. Reservations are recommended.
Get active with a Teepee Snowshoe Tour from Blackcomb Snowmobile. Guests will tuck into a cozy backcountry teepee after a snowshoe trek in Whistler’s Callaghan Valley. Choose from the Apres Teepee Tour, with a hike through a night forest that leads to an indoor fire, hot mulled beverages and charcuterie; or the Daytime Teepee Tour, with hot drinks and snacks, plus insight into local First Nations Traditions shared by your guide. Each tour is 2.5 hours long, round-trip, and is ideal for beginners or families.
Need something a little more adrenalin-driven? Choose the new heli-assisted ski touring adventure from Extremely Canadian. A blend of ski touring and heli-skiing, these backcountry tours in the Coast Mountains include a full day of skiing, snowboarding or telemarking with a professional guide. Transportation via helicopter to and from your backcountry location is included, with location choices such as Mt. Currie, Cayoosh, Birkenhead or Snowspider. Lunch, touring and avalanche safety gear are available at an additional fee.
