Here’s why you should head to Dripping Springs, Texas: It’s where you’ll find Camp Lucy, a gorgeous getaway spread over a 289-acre site in beautiful Texas Hill Country, about 30 minutes from Austin. And don’t let the word “camp” trip you up. Romantic and secluded, the property offers a mix of 41 luxurious guestrooms, suites and private cottages with a distinctly Texas rustic ambience. Touches include wood beams and heritage buildings, plus plenty of stone features, such as the freestanding, handcrafted, half-egg-shaped stone soaking tubs in the Estate Rooms and Terrace Suite.

Available activities include guided sunrise hikes, classes in yoga and meditation, history tours, archery and fishing. Food-focused choices include mixology classes, vineyard experiences and olive oil tastings showcasing house-infused olive oils and balsamic vinegars, homemade focaccia bread, cheese and a glass of Camp Lucy wine. You can also meet, interact with and feed the resident herd of fluffy alpacas. And while you’re out hiking, keep your eyes open for deer, armadillos, porcupines, wild turkeys — or perhaps even a bobcat or coyote. Don’t go to bed too early or you’ll miss out on a stargazing session: Dripping Springs is the first Texas town honored with an International Dark Sky Community designation.
The resort’s dining venue is Tillies, serving breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. Sample dinner choices created by Executive Chef Andy Knudson include Mick Family Farms lamb bolognese with semolina gargati, squashio e pepe served with arborio rice, Jurgielewicz duck with cassoulet beans and Toulouse sausage, or a pit-smoked Tomahawk ribeye. Finish with a pecan sundae or a Mont Blanc tart. There’s also a selection of bespoke, handcrafted cocktails and zero-proof libations, such as the Blueberry Cardamom Smash.

If you simply must bring your work along with you, there are a variety of flexible meeting and event spaces, including Stedman Hall, Ian’s Chapel, The Vineyard and Sacred Oaks, which offers a wide lawn space perfect for cocktail socials, gatherings and performances.
