EVA Air launched a Passenger Health Declaration online platform on evaair.com and its mobile app, as well as piloting a program with digital solution provider AOKpass and its medical partner MedAire, through Aug. 20. With AOKpass, EVA uses a mobile device app to verify passenger health credentials for travel on two routes, Taipei (TPE) to Los Angeles (LAX) and San Francisco (SFO). The app streamlines COVID-19 prevention measures and reduces unnecessary airport contact.

The Passenger Health Declaration can be used from 48 hours to one hour before scheduled departure from the Manage Your Trip feature on the EVA website and mobile app, saving time at the airport and minimizing passenger contact.

The AOKpass digital verification platform, developed by International SOS, MedAire, the International Chamber of Commerce and global testing, inspection and certification company SGS, is a reliable and widely accepted tool for digitally verifying PCR test results and vaccination status. The platform’s collaboration with EVA is a pilot program.

“Passengers can download the AOKpass from the iPhone App Store or Google Play to their mobile devices before they go to the airport,” said David Chen, spokesperson, EVA Air. “As soon as the app is installed, a passenger can use it to make a PCR test appointment or go to EVA’s COVID-19 Information Center. After the PCR test is done at the hospital, the passenger will get a QR code to save on their mobile devices. Then, the passenger can show the QR code to EVA airport staff who can scan it and quickly determine authenticity of test results. Both Taiwan and the U.S. require passengers to also have paper copies of PCR test results for additional verification airport authorities may need.”

This trial follows a program EVA piloted in March with digital solution provider Affinidi in Singapore and Malaysia. The airline continues to evaluate the best ways to connect with global verification platforms to identify the safest, most efficient and convenient travel tools to serve the post-pandemic aviation market.
