Indiana takes basketball very seriously, as evidenced in the iconic Hoosiers. With the NBA All-Star Game coming to Indianapolis Feb. 18, even Indianapolis International Airport is embracing the spirit.

Throughout the airport, the NBA is represented in many forms, most notably a full-sized replica basketball court. A decal, 50 feet wide by 94 feet long, is located in Civic Plaza, a pre-security public area. Featuring two baskets, boundary lines and the All-Star logo, it is perfect for a photo op. Folks can’t shoot baskets, but they can eat courtside thanks to adjacent Pacers Courtside Club.

That’s just the beginning of the NBA experience. Other attractions include
- A 6-foot-tall ceramic basketball, hand-painted by local muralist Koda Witsken, in Baggage Claim
- Live entertainment in Civic Plaza curated by Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Rodney Stepp
- The Art of the Game: Artists at Work, an exhibit of 17 pieces by featured artists, in the KIND Gallery on Concourse A
- A Love of the Game mural by local artist Shaunt’e Lewis in Concourse B
- NBA and All-Star graphics placed throughout the airport
There’s still more to come, including pop-up shops.

The NBA All-Star game will be played Feb. 18 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. The game was originally scheduled to be played in Indianapolis in 2021 but was postponed due to the pandemic.

The saying in Indiana is “In 49 states it’s just basketball, but this is Indiana.” Passengers traveling through the airport see that firsthand.
