Cape Town overflows with activity, between its colorful city neighborhoods, compelling history museums, dynamic food scene, nearby “Winelands,” and a wealth of natural enclaves from the Atlantic coastline to inland flora and fauna. Two luxury properties, Ellerman House and Grootbos Private Nature Reserve, joined forces for a collaboration showcasing the way nature, culture and adventure co-mingle in the city and its surrounding area. The collaboration runs through December 2024.
The experience ties together a minimum three-night stay in a deluxe room at Ellerman House and a minimum three-night stay in a one-bedroom luxury suite at Grootbos Private Nature Reserve. The Ellerman House’s museum-worthy art collection on display tells the story about the social and cultural shift in South African art between the mid-19th century and today. At Grootbos, the Florilegium exhibit showcases botanical illustrations by local and international artists with a focus on Southern Africa.
During the Ellerman House stay, guests will enjoy a Botanical Dinner, a gin experience for two and a scenic transfer from Ellerman House to Grootbos Private Nature Reserve. Once guests have soaked up the cultural riches of Cape Town, a chauffeur-driven tour through the scenic Overberg region transports them to the fynbos-clad hills of Grootbos Private Nature Reserve. The Grootbos stay includes daily lunch, multicourse Botanical Dinner with wine pairing in the wine cellar, a 4×4 Botanical Safari and a visit to the acclaimed Grootbos Florilegium botanical art gallery.
An upgraded version of the experience includes a minimum three-night stay in a villa at Ellerman House, followed by a three-night stay in a villa at Grootbos Private Nature Reserve. The villa option includes a private chef and dedicated hospitality team, and a scenic helicopter flight along the Cape coastline from Ellerman House to Grootbos Private Nature Reserve (one-way transfer).
The luxurious Ellerman House stands regally against the backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean. Its 13 rooms and two villas are exquisitely designed to provide guests with breathtaking panoramic views and meticulously maintained gardens. It is committed to presenting guests with the pinnacle of South African culture and lifestyle through its exclusive bespoke activities, including a private art gallery and exquisitely prepared local cuisine.
Grootbos Private Nature Reserve, one of the most biodiverse biomes on the planet, remains dedicated after 25 years to conserving and celebrating the prolific biodiversity of the Cape Floral Kingdom. Located near the southernmost tip, it spans 3,500 pristine hectares covered with ancient milkwood forests and more than 900 plant (including more than 800 species of fynbos) and animal species. Accommodations overlooking Gansbaai’s wild coastline blend seamlessly with nature while maintaining top-tier luxury. It offers its own curated activities in line with its conservation mission and a world-class dining restaurant featuring fresh, organic produce.

Apr 17, 2024Amansara Review
It was more than a car journey; it was a transition between worlds. At our first hotel in Siem Reap, huge coaches constantly pulled up outside the lobby to deposit or receive international tour groups; we departed in very different style, in a 1965 black Mercedes limousine once owned by King Sihanouk. The mundanities of mass tourism were left behind. We progressed through the chaotic Cambodian streets in regal comfort and soon arrived at a solid gate.
