Air New Zealand opened its refurbished domestic lounge inside Wellington Airport Dec. 21.

The lounge closed March 26, 2019, for scheduled renovations. It now boasts six zones: a café and bar, barista station, business lounge and quiet areas, as well as a self-service food and drinks station.

The facility sits in Wellington Airport’s Domestic Terminal, level 2 of the southwestern pier, offering 374 seats — the previous iteration had 352 seats.

Air New Zealand general manager of customer experience Nikki Goodman said it was “fantastic” to have the new lounge open for the busy holiday travel period. “We know customers flying on our services out of the capital love our domestic lounge so it’s great to be able to offer a fresh new space with plenty of seating.”

The lounge is open to Airpoints Elite, Gold, Elite Partner and Koru members departing on an Air New Zealand flight (no more than four hours prior to flight departure). The lounges open one hour before the first flight until the last departure. Air New Zealand passengers with same-day regional connections to or from an international Air New Zealand Business Premier flight can access the lounges before departure, too.

Air New Zealand is redeveloping lounges across its network and completed the following lounges: Auckland (AKL), Sydney (SYD), Brisbane (BNE), Melbourne (MEL), Perth (PER), Nadi (NAN), Tauranga (TRG), Invercargill (IVC), Hamilton (YHM), Dunedin (DUD), Wellington (WLG), Queenstown (ZQN), Palmerston North (PMR) and Nelson (NSN). The airline opened its new regional lounge in Nelson last week.
