AmaWaterways expands to Peru with the debut of its six-day Machu Picchu itinerary, a post-cruise extension of its Magic of Colombia journey. The new experience is available starting in 2027 (and on every post-cruise sailing of Magic of Colombia in 2028), bringing extraordinary hotels, legendary rail trail, private touring and authentic cultural experiences together.
“We want to create even more opportunities like this for our guests, with experiences that are extraordinary from beginning to end,” said Catherine Powell, CEO, AmaWaterways. “Machu Picchu is an iconic destination, but there is also exciting opportunity in everything around it: the way you arrive, where you stay, what you discover, who you meet and ultimately how the experience makes you feel.”
After disembarking in Cartagena, Colombia, guests fly to Lima, Peru, with airfare between destinations included in the land experience. Highlights include Lima’s vibrant neighborhoods of Miraflores and Barranco; historic architecture and Inca heritage in Cusco; Machu Picchu aboard either Hiram Bingham, A Belmond Train or first-class Inca Rail; Sacred Valley and Ollantaytambo; and more.
Guests can also choose between two hotel experiences. The Boutique option includes stays at The Westin Lima Hotel & Convention Center; Tambo del Inka, A Luxury Collection Resort & Spa; and Palacio del Inka, A Luxury Collection. The Iconic option, meanwhile, includes Miraflores Park, A Belmond Hotel in Lima, and Monasterio, A Belmond Hotel in Cusco.
