Southwest Airlines is issuing completely new uniforms for the first time in two decades.
The airline created an Employee Design Team to work with a corporate apparel maker to create the designs. Then, 120 employees did a six-month test run with each of the different options to try out the fit and functionality. Overall, the process took three years.
The uniforms feature hues from the brand’s color palate, with a bold blue, warm red and silver tone.
The collection includes pants, shirts, polos, shorts, skirts and dresses employees can choose from. The new uniforms come on the heels of recent changes the airline has made to its cabin interiors and brand as a whole — there’s a new logo, for example, and new seat upholstering.
Passengers may see some employees already sporting the new digs, but all employees will be outfitted by September.
