If you’re at all familiar with West Ireland, when you hear the town name of Lisdoonvarna, you might immediately think of the town’s world-famous Matchmaking Festival. Held every September since 1858, Lisdoonvarna teems with hopeful hearts each year seeking their true match.

And while this popular festival draws hundreds across Ireland and Europe, the County Clare town holds another gem: the nearby Wild Honey Inn. In the heart of the iconic Burren, the Wild Honey Inn operates seasonally (March–October) and features uniquely furnished en-suite spaces in a country chic style using locally sourced antique and vintage finds. But it’s not just these curated guestrooms drawing visitors from far and wide; Wild Honey Inn is home to the only Michelin-starred pub in the country.

Helmed by Aidan McGrath, the pub puts an elevated twist on your standard pub dining in Ireland. The restaurant sources all ingredients from local purveyors to highlight the best of the best in Irish produce, cheese, meat and seafood.

With an ever-changing menu reflecting the seasons, the pub sees fresh produce delivered daily to the kitchen, ensuring each plate showcases the best of Ireland. Past highlights include duck and foie gras terrine complemented by green beans and hazelnuts, pickled mushroom and apple; Irish Hereford ribeye elevated with horseradish butter, crusted and crisp-fried celeriac and sauce Béarnaise; and Basque tart featuring poached rhubarb and sauce Anglaise.

A wine collection with both traditional favorites and new-world varieties as well as great selection of draught and hand-crafted beers from microbreweries accompanies the standout menu. There’s also a variety of superior Irish and Scotch whiskies, cognacs and Eau de Vie.

All of Wild Honey Inn’s rooms come decorated with duck down duvets, Egyptian cotton sheets, handwoven throws, free WiFi and more. Room views range from field and countryside outlooks to garden views with private terraces.

The quaint but standout inn lies on the border of The Burren, the smallest of Ireland’s six national parks yet a unique geological landscape spanning more than 200 square miles. Natural features like Mullaghmore hill and Ailladie cliffs comprise some of the spectacular and mind-bending formations. Ancient historic sites also found in The Burren include the dominating Poulnabrone dolmen and Caherconnell Stone Fort. The dolmen dates back more than 4,000 years and defies logic, while the stone fort hails back to around the 10^th century.
