Following Alaska Airlines’ acquisition of Virgin America in April, the airline has phased out the Virgin America brand, merging its most popular features, routes and services into one brand under the Alaska name.
On Jan. 1, 2018, the Virgin America Elevate program will end, and the Alaska Mileage Plan will become the sole loyalty program for both airlines. Virgin America also recently announced Comenity Capital Bank is no longer accepting applications for the Virgin America Visa Card or Virgin America Premium Visa Card.
Current Virgin America cardholder accounts will be closed Jan. 1, 2018, meaning the card will no longer be accepted as payment for purchases. According to the airline’s FAQ, cardholders can voluntarily close their account at any time by calling Comenity Capital Bank at 855 871 9842.
