A bevy of new luxury hotel openings can clue travelers into the next big luxury vacation destinations in 2019. These new accommodations reveal this year’s up-and-coming hot spots for high-end travel.
In recent years, Tourism Australia made major investments toward its hospitality offerings, particularly in the luxury market. One such location is Tasmania, the island off the southern coast of Australia that touts its remote location and cultural offerings as reasons to visit. Luxurious and secluded resorts include Cradle Mountain Lodge and Saffire Freycinet, but 2019 will welcome a new property from the Marriott Luxury Collection: The Tasman. Elsewhere in Australia, Perth recently opened both a new Westin and QT hotel, with plans to finalize a Ritz-Carlton property in the city’s Elizabeth Quay.
In Europe, Greece’s first Four Seasons property will open 30 minutes from Athens, in the former Astir Palace Hotel, followed by the One&Only Hotel on Kea Island, slated to open in 2020.
The Olympic city of Tokyo will see an onslaught of new openings by the start of the Games in 2020, including the ANA InterContinental Beppu Resort & Spa on Japan’s southern island of Kyushu; Marriott’s IRAPH SUI in Okinawa; a new JW Marriott property in Nara City; and a Park Hyatt in Kyoto.
