United Airlines introduces United CleanPlus, a partnership with Clorox and the Cleveland Clinic. The company is committed to putting health and safety at the forefront of the entire customer experience, and hopes to deliver an industry-leading standard of cleanliness. This partnership brings together Clorox and some of the country’s top medical experts from the Cleveland Clinic to help guide United Airlines’ new cleaning, safety and social distancing protocols.
United will also provide customers with other flight options when flights are full.
“Safety has always been our top priority, and right now in the midst of an unprecedented crisis, it’s our singular customer focus,” said Scott Kirby, CEO, United Airlines. “We recognize that COVID-19 has brought cleanliness and hygiene standards to the front of customers’ minds when making travel decisions, and we’re not leaving a single stone unturned in our pursuit to better protect our customers and employees.”
Clorox is working closely with United to improve its cleaning program, redefine disinfecting procedures and provide customers with amenities at select locations to enforce a healthier and safer environment. United’s hub airports, Chicago (ORD) and Denver (DEN) will be the first to receive Clorox products to be used in the gate and terminal areas; more locations will receive products shortly after.
United consulted with experts at Cleveland Clinic for guidance on changing its policies and procedures. With the help of the Cleveland Clinic, United is enforcing mandatory face coverings, touchless kiosks for baggage check-in, social distancing and will check in with the clinic to make sure they are meeting industry standards. Experts from the Cleveland Clinic will also advise on new technologies, training development and quality assurance programming. As scientists learn more about COVID-19, Cleveland Clinic will continue to work with United to quickly form new ideas and ways to keep customers safe.
