Uber has long been the alternative for business travelers who don’t want to rent a car or wait for a taxi, but the on-demand ride service is offering yet another service: Uber Events.

In some cases, Uber reaches out to event planners, venues and hotels to design a strategy for transportation during major events. However, not many businesses are aware the service exists because Uber doesn’t openly advertise Uber Events, part of the Uber for Business platform.

As part of the transportation strategy for events, Uber works with local law enforcement to reserve space in front of an event venue, alleviating traffic and congestion around the venue and making it easier to direct event attendees to their rides, which are ready and waiting.

Although this is a legitimate service from Uber, event planners seem to rely on the old-fashioned ways to transport guests, including coaches or limousines, especially when the safety of attendees is at stake. Hiring professional drivers employed by an events agency is typically the safer option for event staff.
