The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay recently unveiled a big addition to one of its restaurants. Navio recently received an ocean-inspired art installation.
The installation spans six pieces and is titled “Ocean Inspiration,” which goes well with Navio, as it’s an elevated seafood restaurant.
The installation was created by a local expressionist artist, Christie Smith. Each of the six pieces consist of colored resins on wooden panels. Each panel represents a different aspect of the coast.
“My goal as an artist is to create an emotional connection that would lift someone’s spirit by viewing the ever-changing colors on a canvas as a reminder to enjoy the beauty and power of change in our own lives. I feel that I will do just that for Half Moon Bay visitors and residents alike,” Smith said.
“We were looking to refresh the artwork in our signature restaurant Navio with an interest in collaborating with a local artist with a modern aesthetic,” said Joel Costa, director, sales and marketing, The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay. “After looking at her artwork, I was very intrigued especially with her dramatic “Ocean” series which I thought fit perfectly with Navio’s concept of artfully presented sustainable seafood overlooking the Pacific Ocean.”
Each piece of the installation is available for purchase, $3,800–16,000. More of Smith’s work is on display at Unleashed Gallery in Half Moon Bay.
