Summer in the South of France already beckons travelers thanks to iconic regions like Côte d’Azur and Cannes, but it’s in the countryside of Provence, where distant mountains and medieval towns lie, that travelers see a charm and culture unlike any other.

And deep in this region, in the Luberon area east of Avignon, sits Coquillade Provence, a historic estate once inhabited by Cistercian monks in the 11th century. Now a Relais & Châteaux resort, this estate boasts 69 elegant guestrooms and suites (including the all-new Luberon suites). Beautiful any time of year, Coquillade Provence particularly comes alive in summer, accentuated by the bloom and life of surrounding lavender fields and vineyards.

This summer is no exception for the charming estate. At the hotel’s on-site spa, Coquillade Spa, guests can expect an expanded seasonal treatment menu featuring vinotherapy and lavender rituals, along with dedicated retreat programs like Detox & Shape, No Stress, In & Out Beauty, and more.

The hotel’s Clefs d’Or concierge team also prepares for summer with private cultural and culinary experiences across Provence. Tour the world’s largest Gothic palace with rare access to hidden chapels and rooftop terraces, finishing with a wine tasting overlooking the Rhône; explore famed vineyards and blend your own bottle guided by expert oenologists; craft custom fragrances in a private Aix-en-Provence workshop with local ingredients like rose de mai, fig leaf and verbena; meet artisanal olive oil producers, tour historic groves and taste small-batch oils with bread, sea salt and regional cheeses; join local experts and dogs on a truffle hunt; and even drive backroads through blooming lavender fields, complete with market stops and scenic viewpoints.

Coquillade Provence also partners with local ecologist and mountain guide Corinne for some unique nature experiences this season. Tours include an option through secluded ochre canyons, lavender and tasting experiences (June 15–July 25), a tour through valleys and natural springs, sunset breakfast hikes, and more.

On July 15, Tour de France returns and takes on Mont Ventoux in Stage 16. To celebrate the race, Coquillade Provence debuts pro-level cycling retreats, which include a five-day group ride, itinerary, bespoke private ride for two, and included experiences (BMC bike, guide, spa access, curated meals and wine tastings).

Of course, the estate also has its own organic vineyard, Domaine de la Coquillade, and guests are welcome to explore the wine-making process through private tastings of award-winning rosés, whites and structured reds; cellar tours and viticulture insights; and vineyard picnics beneath oak, fig and cypress trees.
