TAP Air Portugal announced a new route, its first to the West Coast. Starting June 2019, TAP Air Portugal flies five weekly non-stop trips between San Francisco (SFO) and Lisbon (LIS). San Francisco is the airline’s eighth North American gateway.
The flight operates Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, departing San Francisco at 4:10 p.m. and arriving in Lisbon at 11:25 a.m. the next day. Return flights leave Lisbon at 10 a.m., arriving in San Francisco at 2:40 p.m.
“We’re excited to keep adding new cities from the United States to Portugal,” said David Neeleman, founder, JetBlue Airways, and major shareholder, TAP Air Portugal. “Despite being a 73-year old airline, this year TAP is one of the world’s top 10 fastest-growing airlines. As Portugal has become a more popular destination, U.S. travelers have not only found out about Portugal but also about flying TAP beyond Lisbon to our 70-plus destinations across Europe and Africa.”

A visit to the first-ever museum dedicated to Byzantium, a stroll around the National Garden and a trip to the Olympeion archaeological site will take you back through time.
People need a “chance to get some well-needed rest, relaxation and fresh air.” This is a sentiment we all likely share, as does the European Commission, the executive branch of the European Union. The EC included that phrase when it released its plan to help reopen Europe following the COVID-19 global pandemic. While most EU borders remain closed to international travel until at least mid-June, the EC’s plan starts with inter-Europe travel, and are non-binding recommendations and guidelines. European countries still have the final decision, so travelers are advised to check the restrictions of the countries they plan to visit. According to the EC, “blanket restrictions of free movement are replaced by targeted measures.”
