In Sonoma, the historic Barlow Apple Cannery is getting a new lease on life. In its newest incarnation, it’s been transformed into a working marketplace and production facility for local artisans and food producers.
Phase One, which made its debut in January, saw a handful of new tenants setting up shop. Kosta Browne Winery, Wolfard Glassblowing Company, Guayaki Yerbe Mate and Bronze Plus Art Foundry all opened their doors in January, and additional butchers, bakers — and yes, candle makers — are scheduled to round out the remaining shop space on April 1.
Billed as the first business community in the country to directly connect customers with a group of working artists and food artisans at the site of actual production, the 215,000 square-foot space at the Barlow will also be the location of the Sebastopol Farmers Market, bocce ball courts, and a gathering area with fire pits and seating.
