With winter kicking in, it’s time for skiers and snowboarders to pick up their equipment and hit slopes around the world. This year, travelers should head to the Jungfrau Region of Switzerland.

Travelers will have access to some of the most pristine ski conditions on earth, including the Village of Grindelwald, which serves as an ideal homebase and gateway to the region. Just a few scenic hours from Zürich, the region offers more than 130 miles of unspoiled ski trails and fantastic powder. The high altitude makes Jungfrau less susceptible to variable snow conditions compared to the lower peaks found in American destinations like Utah and Colorado.

Jungfrau is an ideal destination for all types of skiers. The region offers Jungfrau’s Ski School, where skilled instructors teach essential skiing skills to small groups on Männlichen Peak. Memories of learning to ski on one of the world’s most picturesque mountain peaks last a lifetime.

The region even offers winter adventures for non-skiers, ranging from snow hiking to bungee jumping off a hanging gondola over picturesque Swiss Alpine lakes to visiting the spectacular Jungfraujoch and Sphinx observatory. The Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe is the crown jewel of the area, operating as an observatory and visitor center perched on the edge of the UNESCO World Heritage site Aletsch Glacier. Guests can also try their hand at Big Pintenfritz, one of the world’s longest sledding runs, offering 9 miles of continuous downhill excitement.
