With excellent passenger amenities including tropical rooftop gardens, movie theatres and even free foot massages, Singapore Changi Airport was named the world’s best airport at the 2015 World Airport Awards held by airline consultancy Skytrax in Paris this month.
Six Asian airports made the list of the top 10 airports in the world, with Singapore Changi Airport taking the top position for the third year in a row.
South Korea’s Incheon International Airport and Hong Kong International retained their ranks of second and fourth, respectively, while Tokyo Haneda International jumped one spot to fifth place and Central Japan International Airport rose five spots to seventh place. Beijing Capital International Airport took the 10th spot.
Results are based on 13.02 million customer nominations; the World Airport Awards include 550 airports worldwide. Results are based on customer satisfaction across services such as check-in, arrivals and transfers as well as shopping and leisure facilities.
Passengers at Singapore Changi Airport are offered a variety of amenities, including mini green oases, video gaming areas and free sightseeing tours around the city for those with a layover of at least five hours. When the Jewel Changi Airport outside Terminal 1 is completed in Singapore, the 10-level complex will offer an indoor forest, walking trails and the world’s tallest indoor waterfall.
