Scenic Cruises launched the world’s first discovery cruise this past July with a journey from Iceland to Canada.
Originally scheduled to depart in August 2018, Scenic’s Eclipse set sail July 26, 2019, for a 13-day adventure across the Atlantic Ocean from Reykjavik to Quebec. The “discovery yacht” welcomed guests for a luxury sailing trip with optional on-shore excursions.
With two private Airbus H130 helicopters onboard, guests are free to roam their surroundings by air when the ship is docked.
The ship, from Australian cruise company Scenic, has a maximum capacity of 228 guests (only 200 for itineraries in the Arctic and Antarctica) and offers 114 suites (all with verandas), plus 10 restaurant options; a spa with a gym and a yoga/Pilates studio; and a 240-seat theater.
When not participating in one-of-a-kind excursions, guests can go for a dip in the indoor or outdoor plunge pool, or simply order room service from their own private butler.
