Overlooking the celebrated Kurfürstendamm shopping boulevard in Germany’s capital city, the Sofitel Berlin Kurfürstendamm is the ideal spot for an urban getaway. The building itself is a landmark. With its soaring limestone façade, it’s easy to see why this Art Deco structure became an award-winning design for architect Jan Kleihues.
Luxurious rooms are generously proportioned, with cozy color schemes built on cocoas, shades of burgundy and green offset by wood trim and plenty of natural daylight. Complimentary high-speed WiFi and spacious work areas make the hotel perfect for business travelers. The 11th-floor Club Lounge level features a graffiti mural by artist Miss Tic; an extended continental breakfast served until 11 a.m. on weekdays and 2 p.m. on weekends; and afternoon tea served from 3 p.m. Pre-dinner snacks, wines and aperitifs are also offered to Club Lounge guests.
In-house dining choices include Restaurant Le Faubourg with French cuisine, and the Restaurant Saint Germain for breakfast. For casual fare or socializing, guests can choose the Library with Bauhaus-inspired décor and Le Faubourg Lounge Bar, where statement seating includes Cité seats by Vitra and Bauhaus-styled chairs by Walter Gropius.
A full-service fitness area and wellness space on the second floor provide an oasis of relaxation with a sauna, steam bath, ice fountain and Dornbracht footbaths. The treatment menu features Ayurvedic and traditional therapies provided by a team of physiotherapists. Along with plenty of shopping, nearby diversions include the Schaubühne theater, Theater des Westens and Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church.
