Hawaii-based Outrigger Hotels and Resorts announced the expansion of its portfolio with the purchase of the Mövenpick Resort and Spa Mauritius in the Indian Ocean. Following a six-month renovation of the property’s guestrooms, public areas and grounds, the hotel will reopen as the Outrigger Mauritius Resort and Spa by the end of the year. Located on the southwest coast of Mauritius 45 minutes from Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport (MRU) and the capital of Port Louis, the property will feature 181 guestrooms with views of the Indian Ocean, three swimming pools, three restaurants and a spa.
“The Outrigger Mauritius Resort and Spa will reflect the hospitality, warmth and flavors of Mauritius,” said Darren Edmonstone, managing director of Outrigger, Asia Pacific. “The property is well suited for families and couples seeking a luxurious beach holiday in a peaceful and welcoming cross-cultural setting for which this island nation is so famous.” The Outrigger Mauritius Resort and Spa will be Outrigger’s first property in the Indian Ocean. The company currently operates properties in Thailand, China and Vietnam.
