Travellers hoping to spend some time in New Zealand will have a few more hoops to jump through as 2019 progresses.
Later this year, New Zealand will require all air travellers from visa-waiver nations and all cruise visitors to the country to hold an Electronic Travel Authority clearance. The requirement begins Oct 1. ETAs are valid for two years and cost $9 for those who apply through a mobile device.
The requirement does not include New Zealand residents travelling with New Zealand passports and travellers who hold valid New Zealand visas. Those travelling through the country will need an ETA, even if New Zealand isn’t the final destination.
Australian citizens are exempt from the requirement.
