Falling asleep in economy class can be a test of flexibility and patience, often depending on how tired you are. No matter how many ways your body contorts to sleep sitting upright, it’s hard to avoid the dreaded head drop, from little to no head support, that can easily jerk you (and your neighbor) awake.

Airplane seat company Universal Movement is hoping to make it easier for economy passengers to fall (and stay) asleep, thanks to its new seat design called Interspace. This seat style recently debuted at a London conference and features two wings on either side of a passenger’s head. The wings extend outward to form barriers on each side, allowing the passenger to rest his head while offering the added benefit of privacy from a noisy neighbor.

Universal Movement is planning to make this seat style “smarter” by implementing a technology to detect when a passenger falls asleep that would then communicate to the in-flight entertainment screen to power down. This would allow passengers to pick up where they left off in programming once they wake up.
