The cruising gateway to the historic, vibrant city of Nassau and the natural beauty and rich cultural heritage of the Bahamas, Nassau Cruise Port welcomes more than 3.7 million passengers a year. As the economic hub of downtown, the port is transforming into one of the great waterfronts of the world.
Through a $300 million redevelopment project, the cruise port under- went a series of renovations including an expansion of the Prince George Wharf and the addition of a sixth berth, allowing the port to accommodate three Oasis-class vessels. The new berth features 700 feet of mega-yacht docking space as well as dedicated pick-up and drop-off locations for water ferries and other water-based tours. Other additions include a new terminal building, a Junkanoo museum, event spaces, an amphitheater, taxi dispatch center, local stores, and new food and beverage hot spots.
The new Arrivals Terminal quickly became a notable landmark. The building stands out from the rest of the port structures as it was designed to provide a glimpse into the appearance of the terminal in the near future. Here travelers will find the Nassau Cruise Port managing office, customs, immigration, port agencies and a pharmacy. Two giant outdoor LED screens alert passengers to events and other happenings at the port.
After transiting through the terminal, passengers enter the Welcome Plaza, featuring retail options and the new ground transportation hub.
Travelers will also find more ways to access downtown Nassau, as the port now offers four exits leading to different streets. Since the grand opening ceremony in May 2023, the port has seen record passenger numbers. By the end of that year, it reached 4.4 million passengers, more than projected and surpassing the all-time high of 3.8 million passengers in 2019.
In December 2023 the cruise port also set a new one-day record with close to 30,000 passengers arriving on six ships. With the numbers continuing to trend upward, Nassau Cruise Port expects 5.6 million passengers in 2024.
Nassau Cruise Port now awaits the completion of Phase 2, which will include the addition of a day club experience, a kids play area, more entertainment space, shops, and food and beverage options.
