Naladhu Private Island in the Maldives is set to reopen following extensive renovations. The property closed for six months for a complete renovation and plans to welcome guests back in November. The redesign encompasses all public areas and accommodations. The private island resort is located on the South Malé Atoll, a 30-minute speedboat ride from the airport.
New York-based designer Yuji Yamazaki is behind the redesign. Guests can expect to see sleeker furniture and a lighter color palette throughout the property. Naladhu Private Island boasts 20 houses, each with a private pool. There are two categories of houses, each with more than 900 square feet of space. The Beach House with Pool offers direct access to the beach and lagoon, and Ocean House with Pool and Private Beach Cabana features an ocean view with a dedicated cabana. The property’s top house, the Two Bedroom Pool Residence, sleeps up to six guests and features its own private beach.
The property will expand its no-menu dining concept, allowing guests to select their favorite dishes and cuisine in any location, at any time. Its new spa features a double treatment room and a new resident naturopath and nutritional therapist. The resort affirms its dedication to sustainability and partners with Parley Air to reduce marine plastic pollution and ban all single-use plastic from the island.
“This substantial investment will ensure that Naladhu Private Island continues to be one of the most exclusive private islands in the Maldives. The resort already has a significant number of repeat guests, and I have no doubt the new-look Naladhu will entice many new travelers to experience the privacy, seclusion, and bespoke personalized service that it’s renowned for,” said Giles Selves, general manager, Naladhu Private Island.

Although a destination’s terrain, cuisine and cultural attributes always draw travelers in, it is often the people they meet that make the trip an enduring memory rather than a box to be checked off. This is even more true for five women dedicated to introducing visitors to new aspects of the time-honored ski, leisure and hiking mountain destination in the Dolomites.
