Wellness seekers need look no further than the Naïa Resort and Spa, Belize’s first destination spa. The luxury resort opened in January on the Placencia Peninsula, situated along a mile of beach surrounded by lush forests and tranquil lagoons — the ideal location for the resort’s newly launched wellness experience.
The Naïa Experience is founded on the belief that life is better when it’s balanced, offering a menu of fitness, dining and recreation options in keeping with holistic wellness principles.
At the Naïa Spa, guests can enjoy a full-body Primeval Salt Stone Massage to nourish the body and relax the mind; a soothing sole massage after a day of exploring the peninsula; an Ancient Traditions Facial using native botanicals like aloe, coconut milk and orange blossoms; and a Mayan Cacao and Spice Wrap, the Mayan secret to hydrated skin.
Find your balance — physical, mental and spiritual — at the resort’s Aerial Yoga or Restorative Yoga classes, led by experienced instructors in either private or group sessions.
The Naïa Experience’s dining options combine Central American culinary traditions with healthy vegetarian dishes at 1981 Restaurant and the Naïa Beach Bar & Grill, including chilled pumpkin and coconut soup; quinoa salad; eggplant and coconut red curry; sweet potato feijoada and a watermelon taster. A full menu of nourishing treats at Reflections Spa Café & Juice Bar is also available as part of the Naïa Experience.

May 6, 2024Explore Portugal on a Wine Tasting Tour with a Touch of History
All it takes is one glance at the grounds of Quinta Dona Maria, which includes a grand villa and surrounding gardens, to realize wine tasting in Portugal comes with a good dose of history. The vineyard is located in Estremoz, just northeast of the first-century Roman ruins found in Evora. In 1718 King João V built this estate for his lover, Dona Maria. When she died, the current owner’s ancestors purchased the land and have been making wine ever since. Taste the wine, which is terrific, especially the full-bodied red Dona Maria Grand Reserve. Then venture inside a building that stores large amphora vases, including one dating back to the 1200s.
