In East London, the newly refurbished, family-run Angel of the Bow pub offers visitors great food; cozy stays in boutique bed-and-breakfast accommodations; and, now, a host of immersive seven-day journeys. Offered from Monday to Monday, each day starts with a robust, freshly prepared breakfast. Enchanting rooms at the property are individually designed, and fitted with wooden sleigh beds and upcycled furniture crafted by local artists. Adding to the property’s historic, quirky nature, there’s a luxurious shared bath with a rolltop tub, a walk-in shower room and two additional half-baths.
During the day, guests will take a Jack the Ripper walking tour in Whitechapel and visit Jack the Ripper Museum, discover the history of Bloody Mary, enjoy a tour of East London’s Neckstamper Brewery, and embark on a boating expedition along the Thames. There’s also a tour of Canary Wharf; a visit to The Grapes Public House; exploration of historic Wapping; a stop at Bevis Marks Synagogue; and a driving tour of the East End that includes Roman Road Market, Bethnal Green and Shoreditch.
Other experiences include a meet-up with celebrated street artist Don Smith, who will lead a guided tour of East London’s eclectic street art. Journeys also include shopping, a tour of Westfield in Stratford and a call at Columbia Road Flower Market. Guests will also be treated to a proper East End Sunday roast lunch, and can try the property’s own Angel of Bow session lager.
There’s plenty of rest time built in for personal pursuits and opportunities to explore the area’s nightlife. Optional activities include a nighttime drive around the city from 10 p.m. to midnight, and a two-hour tour of haunts made infamous by gangsters. During the week, have fun at an open mic night and visit one of the East End’s most authentic old pubs, The Palmtree.
